🚲 Eclipse Inner Tube Installation Guide
Step 1: Preparation & Integrity Check
-
Inspect the Rim: Check the inner rim channel and the integrity of the rim strip. Sharp edges or exposed spoke holes will cause an immediate puncture.
-
Clean the Area: Remove all existing sealant from the rim and tire. This avoids tube contamination and ensures a proper seat.
-
Verify Size: Only remount a tube with the same tire size or bigger. Never use a tube that is too small for the tire casing.
-
Brake Type: This method is fully compatible with both Rim and Disc brake systems.
Step 2: Tire Mounting & Valve Placement
-
Mount Side One: Install one side (one bead) of the tire onto the rim.
-
The "Zero Air" Valve Rule: Insert the valve into the rim's valve hole while the tube is completely flat (no air). This ensures the reinforced base of the valve seats perfectly against the rim and doesn't get caught under the tire bead.
Step 3: Tube Alignment & Pre-Inflation
-
Install the Tube: Tuck the rest of the tube into the tire casing. Ensure there are no folds or twists in the tube.
-
The Soft Inflate: Once the tube is tucked in, slightly inflate it to a maximum of 0.3 bar (5 psi). This gives the tube a round shape, helping it stay clear of the rim edges while you close the tire.
Step 4: Final Closing & Pressure
-
Mount by Hand: Push the second side of the tire onto the rim. Always try to mount the tire by hand; tire levers can easily pinch and damage the tube during this final step.
-
Incremental Inflation: Inflate the tire to your riding pressure in steps of 1.0 bar (14 psi).
-
Warning: Avoid high-pressure air flow (like high-volume compressors) initially, as rapid bursts can damage the tube before it is properly seated.
💡 Pro-Tip: The "Thumb Check"
Before you reach full pressure, go around the tire and "pinch" the sides inward with your thumbs. If you see the tube peeking out between the tire and the rim, let the air out and reposition it. This prevents the dreaded "blowout" when you hit high pressure!
